About me

  • I've been researching for 6 years.
  • I've been blogging about my research for 3 years on my personal family history blog, Family Stories.
  • I've been blogging on my blog 4YourFamilyStory.com since Apr 2011 and in the last month [from 1 Jan 2012 thru 30 Jan 2012] it has had 2086 visitors, 1569 unique visitors, and 3477 page views according to Google Analytics.
  • I have 10 years of business experience with the majority of the time being in small business.
  • I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
  • I've been using social media tools since 2009.
  • As of 30 Jan 2012, I have a Klout score of 59. This includes a True Reach of 4000, which means this is the number of people that Klout has calculated that I influence across my online social networks as well as extended networks that are measured by Klout.
  • According to Twitter, I currently have 4246 followers and I currently follow 4661 Twitter accounts. Both follower and following counts were not gained by using 3rd party entities that buy/sell Twitter followers. These were attained by old-fashioned networking, but online.
  • According to Klout, in the last 90 days, my tweets have been retweeted a total of 1.3 thousand times, and I've been mentioned 5.8 thousand times.
  • Note: These measurements made by Klout do not take into consideration other areas in which I influence others. I utilize other metrics and analytics as well. However, they do indicate a higher level influence. For more information about Klout and what it does and does not measure, please read my blog post on my companion site, 4YourFamilyStory.com.
  • I have completed the National Genealogical Society's Introduction to Genealogy online course.  My ultimate goal is to become certified through the Board for Certification of Genealogists(BCG).   To stay informed on the latest research methodologies, I also periodically take continuing education courses.
  • I am a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (link to my APG bio is here.), the Texas State Genealogical Society, the Montgomery County Genealogical and Historical Society (Texas) , the Johnson County, Illinois Genealogical and Historical Society, the Chaparral Genealogical Society, and Clayton Library Friends.
  • I am the In2Genealogy columnist in the footnoteMaven's beautiful and informative E-magazine, Shades of the Departed.  Additionally, I am the Houston Genealogy Examiner Columnist for Examiner.com. Please feel free to click on the links and take a look at some of my work.
